Using this site
ACCESSIBILITY
What we have done, where we fall short, and how to tell us.
We want everyone to be able to use this site, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard alone, magnification, or a phone in bright sunlight on the way to a concert.
How far the site meets the standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) at level AA. The site is partially compliant with that standard, because of the problems listed under “Where we fall short” below.
What we've done
- Every colour combination on the site has been measured against the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast standard.
- The whole site works by keyboard. There's a skip link to jump past the navigation, and focus is always visible.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% without the layout breaking, and the site reflows down to a screen 320 pixels wide with no side scrolling.
- Headings are in a real order, so a screen reader can move around a page by them.
- The quotes and honours that change by themselves on the home page go round once and then stop. They also pause while the pointer is over them or the keyboard is on them.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, nothing on the site moves or animates, and the quotes and honours do not change by themselves.
- Decorative images are hidden from screen readers, so nobody hears a list of file names.
Where we fall short
- Some pages need JavaScript to show their content. With scripts turned off, the home page, What's On, The Band, News and Listen lose most of what is on them, including the concert dates.
- Three older recordings on the Listen page still play from the band's old website. If that site is unavailable, they will not play.
- On the What's On page, pointing at a poster or moving to it with the keyboard shows extra detail. A touch screen has no pointer, so the same detail is written in the caption under the poster, though the wording is not identical.
- Some photographs have short descriptions where a fuller one would help.
- Concert posters are pictures. The date, venue and ticket details on a poster are always written out as text beneath it as well.
How we tested the site
We last tested the site on 13 October 2026. We ran automated checks (axe) on every public page, used each page with the keyboard alone, zoomed to 200% and 400%, checked it on a screen 320 pixels wide, and turned on the setting that reduces motion.
